LanSheet
See what is on your network: every device with its name, model and maker, instead of a list of bare numbers.
Welcome to the support page for LanSheet, the network scanner for Mac, iPhone and iPad. You will find answers to the most common questions here. LanSheet is being prepared for the App Store.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is LanSheet?
LanSheet is a network scanner and a device inventory in one. A scan shows every reachable device on your network with its name, model and maker. You give them your own names, rooms and notes, and LanSheet keeps a sheet on them.
What can LanSheet do that a scanner cannot?
Remember. A scanner shows a snapshot: addresses that may read differently after the router restarts. LanSheet recognises a device by what it says about itself, not by its address, so your own names, icons, rooms and notes stay attached to it.
And because every run is compared with the one before, the second scan shows you something a single one never can: what is new, what is back and what is missing.
What does LanSheet cost?
A single purchase covering Mac, iPhone and iPad together. No subscription, no extra unlocks, every feature included from the start.
Does LanSheet run on iPhone and iPad?
Yes, in the same purchase. Not every feature exists on every system, because iOS governs some kinds of access differently from macOS. Whatever is missing on the iPhone is marked as such in the app instead of leaving a field blank.
Why does LanSheet ask for access to the local network?
Because macOS and iOS guard that access, and without it the app is blind. The system asks the question, and without a yes a scan finds nothing. The access ends at your own network: LanSheet talks to the devices around you, not to the internet.
You are only asked once. If you said no back then, the system will not ask again. The switch for it sits in System Settings under Privacy and Security, Local Network.
Does anything leave my device?
No. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics. Your own names and notes sync between your devices through your private iCloud, and nothing else goes out.
Does LanSheet really find every device?
No, and the app says so. LanSheet finds whatever answers a probe. A device that answers nothing, announces nothing and carries no name stays invisible. Rather than claim a completeness no app can deliver this way, LanSheet shows what it measured and where it knows it from.
Does LanSheet find NDI® sources?
Yes. NDI® comes from video production: cameras, vision mixers and programs like OBS send their picture over the ordinary network instead of down a cable. Every one of those sources announces itself on the network to do that, the same way a printer or an AirPlay device does.
LanSheet reads that announcement and marks the device as a video source, not as a camera. The same announcement also comes from a vision mixer or a laptop running OBS. The picture itself is not something LanSheet shows; that would need the manufacturer's SDK.
NDI® is a registered trademark of Vizrt NDI AB. Seb-IT is not affiliated with Vizrt.
When will LanSheet be released?
LanSheet is finished and is being prepared for the App Store. This page will be updated once it goes live.
